Organised by CMS
as part of Warsaw Finance Week 2026
Europe’s new AML framework promises greater consistency and effectiveness in the fight against financial crime. At the same time, it introduces new obligations for financial institutions and requires significant changes to processes, technology and the way organisations work with data.
Will the new rules genuinely make the fight against financial crime more effective or primarily increase the compliance burden? Could greater consistency in KYC processes improve the customer experience across Europe? And can new information-sharing mechanisms finally enable institutions to identify money-laundering patterns that remain invisible when each organisation looks only at its own data?
Financial Crime Fighters is an expert Warsaw Finance Week side event organised by CMS, bringing together market perspectives on Europe’s evolving AML landscape, from regulation to practical implementation.
The first discussion will examine the impact of the AML Regulation on financial institutions, including the most challenging and costly new obligations, its potential implications for the global competitiveness of European finance, customer experience, and the different impact the new framework may have on banks, fintechs and other obliged entities.
The second part will focus on one of the most important challenges in modern financial crime prevention: information and data sharing. The discussion will explore whether the new framework can enable more effective cooperation between institutions and help identify cross-institutional money-laundering patterns, while addressing the remaining challenges around data protection, confidentiality and professional secrecy.
To close the event, we will move from regulation to technology. myTU will demonstrate what modern KYC and AML processes can look like in practice.
