Mastercard has announced the completion of the first authenticated AI agent transactions in Poland using the Mastercard Agent Pay solution. The pilot involved mBank S.A., Bank Pekao S.A., and UniCredit Polska.
What did it look like in practice?
An AI agent was tasked with finding interesting experiences in New York on Mastercard’s Priceless.com platform. The AI selected tickets for a coffee-tasting experience and then completed the entire purchasing and payment process. The transaction was carried out with the support of Mastercard’s AI agent, which connected to Priceless.com and finalized the payment.
Agentic transaction testing with banks is the first step in assessing the readiness of financial institutions for the era of agentic commerce. It marks the beginning of a new model of shopping and payments, where AI becomes an active participant in the transaction process. The participation of three major banks (mBank S.A., Bank Pekao S.A., and UniCredit Polska) sends a strong signal that agentic commerce is moving beyond the conceptual stage and becoming a strategic direction for the industry.
Mastercard Agent Pay demonstrates how an AI agent can initiate and complete purchases on behalf of users based on verifiable intent and clearly defined permissions.
Congratulations to Mastercard and all pilot partners for paving the way toward the future of finance.
